FAMOUS FRAU HELGA GERMAN BREAD

It was first heard of in 1474, and the most famous Stollen bread is the Dresdner Stollen. It is an old fashioned, world famous German Christmas fruitcake made with yeast, water and flour, and usually dried citrus peel, dried fruit soaked in rum, almonds, and spices such as cardamom and cinnamon; the dough is quite low in sugar. It is covered with icing sugar.
